World of Warcraft Professions

What to do with all this stuff?

With how much I am looking forward to Legion I have started making a list of all the toons I would like to have at 100 by the time it lands. In doing so I have started freeing up some character slots on my main realm. Getting rid of duplicate classes I will never level made me realize how much of a gaming pack rat I am. On my main realm I have toons in three guilds. Two of them are banker guilds (for lack of a better term) that simply have bank space should I need something for “later”. I decided it was time to start auctioning (if they would sell) and vendoring all that crap I know I will never need again.

Then I had few thoughts. Why do we not need this stuff anymore? Why are professions dependent on top level mats? Do they need to be??

Would it be so bad if a level 110 Blacksmith pattern needed a few Copper to complete? Top level recipes needing some Golden Darters?? Even Tailoring Pattern that required some Wool Cloth??

Think of what the landscape would look like if people had to go get mats from past continents, people would be out in the world collecting old mats for patterns or to sell. Could even be a huge boost to world PVP, and it could create a nightmare for the low level new players. Trade chat might actually contain some trading, just imagine..

So what do you do with all your old expac mats?? Would you enjoy a way to use them other than vendoring or just sitting in your bank?? Let me know in the comments below…

If I Had My Way

Big Idea

This is the best I could come up with to represent a good idea. Should have been a return quest but I had none in my log…

We have all said it at one time or another, “If I had my way” or, “If it were up to me” I would do {blank}…

For the most part we are all arm chair game developers who see flaws after the fact and know exactly how to fix them. Or have the, “best idea ever” and think it would revolutionize the way the game it played.

So I decided to write down my World of Warcraft laundry list. The features I would tweak or add to the game I think would add something special. Please leave me your thoughts and “epic ideas/changes”. In the comments below.

World PVP:

  • Stage Coaches / Caravans With “Precious Cargo”: This would be targetable NPC’s with random spawn times traveling to and from cities and towns all over Azeroth. HP would be scale with the size of the group attacking them and rewards would be handed out for both successful takeovers and deliveries. What ever the “Precious Cargo” is would be handed out to the successful parties.

Gear:

  • I feel that by this time gear should only have two main stats on any peice. Then, depending on the quality have 0-2 Gem Slots and allow for Enchants.
    • Uncommon (Green) Gear would have no Gem Slots but could be Enchantable
    • Rare (Blue) Gear would have 1 Gem Slot and be Enchantable
    • Purple (Epic) Gear would have 2 gem slots and be Enchantable
    • Legendary (Orange) can be exactly what they want it to be for the purpose of gameplay
  • To me this would give some life back to a few professions and give us a little more control over the secondary stats on our gear. Keep gem colors and only allow for one of each color on the gear. It’s still nice to make choices and not just over stack Crit simply because it’s Crit.

Professions:

  • They need to find a way to make professions mean something again. When I was leveling through BC I noticed for a brief time that as a Blacksmith I was able to chose to be a Weaponsmith or Armorsmith. Which I thought was brilliant. Chose a path do go down and try to make yourself a little more unique.0
  • Gear has to mean something or at least look cool. And if we can only build Armor that has the base stats on it but could forge up a few gem slots and make it looks epic with some color changes and unique patterns or designs. I think Gear makers could be come useful again in the transmogrify market or just honest gear sales.
  • Give gear makers the ability to slightly upgrade all tiers of gear. I liked the ability to use honor points to scale my gear but thought it should have been the job of a Blacksmith, Leather\worker, or Clothier to provide that service.
  • I have nothing interesting for Gathering, just please do not make the resources available to everyone again. Let the gatherers gather….

So that is my short list. I may come back and add more when they cross my mind. Please feel free to let me know in the comments below what your ideas would be. I love hearing what other people would do with World of Warcraft if given the chance.

Class Order Hype

I was at work trying to quietly watch the live Gamescom Presentation and I found myself getting pretty excited over most of the new announcements for World of Warcraft Legion. This is all new information with endless possibilities in my mind. It will be exciting to see how much of my speculation actually comes to pass.

I guess I should mention here my track record is not as good as my imagination when it comes to these things.

The way I understand it classes are going to become relevant again in Legion.

I have played a Warrior pretty much since I started playing. Yes, I rolled a Dwarf Hunter and snagged me a bear pet a soon as I could to mimic that epic Vanilla Trailer. However, as soon as I became Horde (one week later) I have been an Warrior. And I remember having to do Warrior things… Quests for weapons, quests for stances, even as I look back on it. I actually enjoyed having to go find a Warrior Trainer to talk too and pay off in order to learn new abilities. It made me feel like I was learning something of value, that contributed to who I was in game.

If Class Orders, and Class Halls can give me anything it would be the feeling that, “Not everyone is cut out to be a Warrior.” I chose this class, worked through the ranks, paid my dues and fought for what I have. If Blizzard is going to give us a Talent Tier at level 110. I would like it to be earned through a Class Quest not simply show up ready for clicking. I am a Warrior damn it, I can hit the crap out of what ever you put in my way. Make me hit all the things then reward me.

Damn, I kind of miss weapon skill leveling too… Sure it was a grind, but if you want to use Swords effectively they do handle differently than a Mace.

So what would I like Class Order Halls to become?

  • Gathering place for the realm class to assemble.
  • Please, Please, Please, have it’s own Chat Channel. I want to interact again even if it is with the other faction.
  • Give me Class Quests. As many as the team can provide.
  • Don’t let the Champions do all the work. If they know where a piece of level 700 gear is. Make me go get it.
  • Could care less where it is located. Not sure Warriors have a “place” we could call home anyway
  • Put a Class Trainer in there and make me use him if I am getting new Abilities
  • If Proving Grounds are going to be a thing again. Put them there too, and get them out of Pandaria.

So that is my list. If you have anything to add feel free to do so in the comments below. What are you hoping Class Order Halls will turn out to be?
